The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree is an academic programs to help you reach your professional goals, whether you are interested in becoming a registered nurse or expanding your nursing career.
Nursing students are taught by talented professors who have real-world experience in the subjects that they teach. Faculty members have worked in a wide range of clinical settings that vary from the military and intensive care units to medical-surgical units and renal dialysis clinics. Students receive one-on-one attention when they visit professors during office hours to get help with class assignments and/or career goals.
All nursing students have access to the Nursing Department’s High-Fidelity Simulation Laboratory. The lab allows students to learn and practice new nursing techniques on life-like mannequins in a real-world setting.

All nursing degree programs include experiences in real clinical settings. The Nursing department has a strong relationship with hospitals and health care facilities in the San Angelo area, where nursing students are mentored by working professionals. Students also interact with and assist real patients in preparation for careers upon graduation.
Students wishing to study the Bachelor degree in Nursing should meet the following requirements:
- Completion of or enrollment in the following prerequisite courses:
- Minimum grade of “C” in all required science and math courses
- A composite score of 20 or higher on the American College Test (ACT) or a combined verbal and math score of 950 or above on the SAT Reasoning Test (before March 2005) or a combined verbal, math and writing score of 1410 on the SAT (after March 2005)
- A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on all previous college work
Scholarships do not have to be repaid and are typically awarded to students who meet special qualifications as outlined by a selection committee or donor. Contact ASU for information about these types of scholarships.
