Foundation Degree Landscape and Garden Management
The Landscape and Garden Management foundation degree programme is taught by Askham Bryan College's Department of Horticulture.
This Landscape and Garden Management course is a vocationally based study programme, incorporating elements of practical work and scientific study.
The course is aimed at students wishing to pursue opportunities at managerial level within a broad range of organisations such as local park departments, botanical gardens, private gardens, English Heritage or the National Trust.
All Landscape and Garden Management foundation degree student follow the following core subjects:
- Horticultural Science
- Landscape maintenance
- Principles of Horticulture
- Management Principles
- Contract Management
- European Studies
- Personal Effectiveness
- Personal Research Project
- Vocational Placement
Students then have the option of specialising in either Management or Design and study specialised subjects accordingly.
Upon successful completion of the Landscape and Garden Management foundation degree students can pursue their studies further with the BSc (Hons) Sustainable Land Management and obtain their Honours Degree after only one additional year of study.
Students wishing to study Landscape and Garden Management Foundation must meet the following entry requirements:
- A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, or BTEC First Diploma with a minimum of 20 points plus a minimum of 80 UCAS points including study of 2 GCSE/VCE A levels to A2 or a BTEC National Diploma, may include Key Skills at level 2 or above plus a satisfactory reference.
For students that wish to study Landscape and Garden Management Foundation but do not meet the entry requirements for this course, you should consider the Extended Foundation Degree in Landscape and Garden Management Introductory Year which will provide you with the necessary skills and entry requirements.
