The Environmental Science for Sustainable Energy and Technology programme will turn you into an environmental professional. Through several projects and courses, you will learn about sustainable energy techniques, their suitability in specific situations, bio-based waste management, environmental pollution and cleanup technology, cost-benefit analyses, stakeholder analyses and also environmental policy and law. Given the international character of the student group, you will learn about these subjects in relation to different parts of the world.

Lecturers and staff members are highly qualified. Our approach is personal. You will work in small groups. A personal coach and study counselor will give you plenty of guidance. The programme was ranked number 1 in the two main higher education surveys in the Netherlands for five consecutive year now. The atmosphere is friendly and open. The composition of the student group extends from Europe to Africa and Asia. The projects come from the working environment, so you will handle realistic problems and data.

Avans University of Applied Sciences invites students to attend their International Orientation Days. This includes hotel accommodation and meals for the two-day event, as well as the full orientation and introduction program, which includes:
- Detailed information about the study programs Finance & Control (international), International Business, Environmental Science for Sustainable Energy and Technology and Industrial Engineering & Management
- The chance to take get a taster of their courses and experience their interactive teaching style
- An introduction to the city of Breda
- The opportunity to explore the campus facilities

The level of your prior education has to be equivalent to a Higher General Secondary Education level (Dutch havo) with science profile (chemistry and mathematics) and English or Pre-University Level (Dutch vwo) with science profile (chemistry and mathematics) and English.
In addition to the minimum diploma requirements, adequate knowledge of mathematics and chemistry is required. Additional knowledge of science subjects like biology and physics is preferred.
For all our English-taught degree programmes, the minimum English language prerequisite is an academic IELTS test or equivalent with an overall band score of at least 6.0. This means you must have successfully passed the 'speaking and writing' and 'listening and reading' components. As a degree-seeking student you must provide evidence of your language competences in the form of an official certificate: IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC or Cambridge ESOL.

Bachelor’s degree of Sciences is awarded upon completion.
Tuition & fees
The yearly tuition fee is €2060 (EU-students) €8000 (non-EU students)
Tuition fees can be paid all in once or in 10 installments. 1st installment in September. Additional costs vary between 300 - 750 EUR per year for books.
