Study Hospitality Management at B.H.M.S.
The second year to the Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management consists of one intensive study period of 6 months at the B.H.M.S. campus in Lucerne, Switzerland. and one practical paid industry training period of 4- 6 months in the Swiss or international hospitality industry. This program suits professionals who already work in a position in the hospitality, service- or tourism industry and who want to update their qualifications and/or study towards a bachelor degree.
The program offers students an academic education together with vocational core competency training. This carries considerable value and prestige with employers worldwide. It can also benefit people looking to obtain the necessary specialized knowledge when thinking about opening their own business.
This second year program allows students deeper insight into subjects started in year one. It gives them a chance to learn further theories and allows them greater flexibility in selecting elective subjects of special interest. The Higher Diploma is generally required for international placement as it indicates the level and depth of learning achieved in operational as well as theoretical subjects. A second successfully completed hospitality internship indicates a student’s commitment to an industry career to potential future employers.
The Entry Requirements for the Higher Diploma Program in Hotel and Hospitality Management (2nd year) are:
- Minimum 19 years of age
- Successful completion of the Diploma in Hotel and Hospitality Management from B.H.M.S. or equivalent
- English language skills at a level equal to IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 550

Career & Placement Services
B.H.M.S. is affiliated with various multinationals and consultants to assist students to apply for the international job market. B.H.M.S. mediates the relation between various employment consultants and students to assist them with interview preparation, written and video resumes as well as employment documentations.
The Language of instruction in all courses at B.H.M.S. is English. However, students also learn German, as knowledge of several languages is an important asset in the hotel industry and is an extra "passport" for a global career. German lessons also help students to communicate with the local community and during their industry placement as these are mainly based in the German speaking part of Switzerland.
Paid Industry Training in Switzerland
Industry training is an integral part of the study program at B.H.M.S. During every academic year, students may be required to carry out 4-6 months industry training period in a hotel or a restaurant approved by B.H.M.S. A Career and Placement Counselor assists students with placements in hotels and restaurants in Switzerland and outside Switzerland as well.
