Prepare Yourself for a Career in the Automotive Industry
The Motive Power Technician Diploma provides you with a balance of theory and practical training for a variety of careers in the automotive and transportation industry, including that of an Automotive Service Technician.
The curriculum offers a hands-on approach focused on motor vehicle technology; you will have the opportunity to work in fully-equipped automotive shops complete with automobile assemblies.
As part of the (Automotive) Motive Power Technician – Administration curriculum, you will be trained on automobile assemblies in fully-equipped automotive shops at Ashtonbee Campus, one of Ontario’s largest transportation training facilities.
Upon completion of the Motive Power Technician program, which offers the same content as the Automotive Service Technician (AST) apprenticeship qualification, you will be fully prepared to enter the automotive industry.
The Automotive Power Technician Diploma will provide you with a solid understanding of motor vehicle technology and component design, as it emphasizes vehicle dynamics, applied mechanics, and properties of materials.
Admission requirements for the Motive Power Technician diploma are:
- Ontario high school diploma or equivalent, or 19 years or older
- English Grade 12 C or U or equivalent, or skills assessment
- Math Grade 11M or U or Grade 12C, M or U or equivalent, or skills assessment
