Glasgow Caledonian University has about 900 FTE (full-time equivalent) postgraduate students, including 25% in research and 75% in taught Masters courses. In total, there are approximately 400 research students, 50% of whom are part-time or working towards a professional doctorate in their workplace.
Many of the research students are lifelong learners returning to education after gaining valuable work experience. The research student population is also culturally diverse, with students from over fifty countries.

The university encourages part-time study, particularly in partnership with employers and is one of the largest holders of Knowledge Transfer Partnerships in Scotland.
The university is also well-known for its collaborative nature, working with industrial, professional, commercial and educational establishments in the Glasgow area, and further afield in the UK and overseas.

Prospective candidates should normally hold a good Honours degree in a subject appropriate to your research topic, although equivalent professional qualifications and appropriate experience may also be considered.
