Ranked #1 worldwide for Fashion Business programs and #2 worldwide for Fashion Design Master's programs by The Business of Fashion in 2017, Institut Français de la Mode (IFM) is a higher education institution that offers a wide range of programs. The programs include executive education, postgraduate academic programs, and expertise in areas such as fashion, textile, luxury and design industries.

In 1986 IFM was founded by representatives of the fashion industry with support from the French Ministry of Industry. It is state-recognized and is a member of the International Foundation of Fashion Institutes (IFFTI) and of the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles. IFM accepts 180 students and 2,000 executives each year.

In 2016, IFM announced a strategic alliance with Ecole de la chambre syndicale de la couture parisienne, an institution founded in 1927 and praised for the excellence of its teaching, combining technical savoir-faire and creativity.

IFM enables students to follow high-level postgraduate programs in both luxury management (one in French, one in English), fashion entrepreneurship and fashion design. After one year of studies, students either start their own business or take on careers in companies where creativity is a major source of added value. IFM strives to knock down barriers between management and design in an industry that blends brands, products, design and culture. 

IFM upholds very close links with the industry. Businesses from the sector are very well represented in its governing bodies. In addition, the diversity of IFM's student body is assured by a grant system that is funded by a circle of partner companies. 

Market and academic research are important assets of IFM, providing numerous publications in social and human sciences applied to fashion and design, as well as professional guidelines for decoding the profound structural and economic changes in the sector in terms of consumer behavior, product strategy and retail strategies.

This industry expertise, combined with that of IFM’s faculty, enriches the experience offered in their postgraduate and executive education programs. In addition, IFM offers a part-time Executive MBA program with unique opportunities for international study (New York, Hong Kong). IFM also opens to a wider audience through library resources and public conferences.
