Bachelor (BA Honours) in International Business
The Bachelor (BA Honours) in International Business is offered by IBA in co-operation with Coventry University. The full-time 1-year ‘top-up’ Bachelor in International Business is aimed at students who wish to upgrade their existing two-year qualification such as Market Economist or similar Business Studies course.
Students are registered at both the IBA and Coventry University and are awarded a BA (Honours) degree from Coventry University upon successful completion of the Bachelor in International Business degree programme.
The Bachelor (BA Honours) in International Business consists of following modules:
Advanced Marketing Communications
This module is intended for students who wish to understand the role of all aspects of marketing communications in marketing and business. The focus is on integrated marketing communications on a national, international and global scale. It also focuses on the current and emerging issues in marketing communications.
The aim of the Business Strategy module is to provide students with an understanding of strategic decision making. To this end, the module critically examines techniques available to companies aiming to develop sustainable competitive advantage in their industry.
This module aims to provide students with an understanding of the theory and practice of entrepreneurship in a range of organisational contexts. It also encourages students to develop a critical appreciation of current academic debates on 'entrepreneurship' as well as research evidence on the application of this and other closely related concepts, such as 'intrapreneurship' and 'entrepreneurial'.
This module defines the scope of international business and differentiates between domestic operations and business in an international context. The International Business module will synthesise disciplines such as geography, politics, economics, law, finance and history in order to understand how they underpin the current conduct of international business.
The aim of this module is to provide students with an understanding of the international dimension of finance and how this impacts upon business. By the end of the International Finance module, students should appreciate the workings and operation of currency derivatives markets, the international money and capital markets and the principles of currency risk management. The subject matter of the module includes study of currency markets, international parity conditions, international money and capital markets, the nature and importance of currency risk and strategies for managing currency risk.
International Marketing Strategy
The International Marketing Strategy module aims to deliver and develop a wide-range, contemporary perspective of the international marketplace and the strategic issues involved in international marketing. While the major focus of the module is deliberately global, some coverage of European and other regional trade blocs will be afforded through case study sessions and assignment work.
All teaching and assessment takes place at the IBA in Kolding, Denmark and the BA programme is delivered entirely in English. The Bachelor in International Business can be used as a formal qualification, both in support of job applications and/or advanced study at other universities world-wide.
The admission requirements for the BA Degree Programme are to have successfully completed one of the following:
- Any relevant business programme of minimum 2 years full time study at post-secondary level (such as HND/Market Economist/AP-Degree)
- Diplomas from other business academies in Denmark*
- Diplomas from other comparable courses from Danish or foreign business schools and universities*
*These students are enrolled provided they can demonstrate their aptitude, through their educational achievements and/or competence in the BA subject areas.
The total price for tuition at the full-time Top-up Bachelor in International Business for the academic year 2011/2012 is 70,000 Danish kroner (DKK) (approx. 9,400 EUR).
Market Economist students who graduate from the IBA this summer will be allowed to pay in 2 instalments (35,000 DKK upon enrolment and 35,000 DKK in December).
The tuition fee includes all teaching, learning support and administrative costs.
If students come from countries where a visa to study in Denmark is required, the Danish Foreign Ministry requires proof that they have sufficient funds to support themselves while studying and living in Denmark. Normally a visa is issued only when the first-year fee has been paid in full.
There is no scholarship offered for this education so students should relay on another source of possible financial support. Please be aware that grants and scholarships for international students are usually very hard to come by in Denmark.
International students must be able to support themselves during their studies in Denmark, and should not rely upon being able to find part-time work or financial support from the Danish authorities unless this has been arranged in advance.
