Study Design in Sweden
The Masters in Design offers a studio-based, interdisciplinary approach to design, with collaborations tackling societal challenges. This program is designed to train confident and qualified designers who can enter complex contexts, take on a leading role and co-create solid, sustainable solutions.
Design studies incorporates established and innovative design concepts in a unique interdisciplinary setup. Studio courses form the foundation of the program, providing the fundamentals of working with societal challenges. The challenges are defined on a yearly basis, ranging from Food Waste and Civility to Nomadic Welfare. The Design Program has a multi-campus setup and uses digital and physical resources.
The Masters in Design Program features three design tracks, allowing you to develop your skills within an area of specialty. Current tracks are: Sustainable Futures, Transformative Service and Visual Media.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- English corresponding to the level of English in Swedish upper secondary education (English 6/B)
- Applicants are required to submit the following:
- a current resumé
- a well structured and annotated portfolio
- up to five samples of independently produced pieces of text
The documentation must be submitted in their entirety by the final cutoff date. Incomplete applications will be regarded as ineligible. Additionally, those who fulfill above mentioned requirements will be invited to do a design task. The task is performed according to the invitation, and has to be assessed with a pass to fulfill the requirements for eligibility to the program. All texts must be in English. The submitted material must prove that the applicant possesses necessary prerequisites regarding design ability to contribute from the program. The selection of eligible applicants is based on the submitted material, which will decide the final ranking of the candidates.
Tuition & fees
- Citizens from within the EU/EEA and Switzerland: No tuition fees
- All others: approx. USD 14,500/EUR 13,000 (SEK 126,000) per academic year
