MSc in Science for Sustainable Development
The 2-year MSc in Science for Sustainable Development at Linköping University in Sweden is a full-time program that provides a strong basis for a career related to sustainable development and environmental change. The program places focus on the critical analysis of environmental challenges and the application of science to solve real-world problems.
The program aims to provide students with knowledge on environmental change and the challenges of creating a sustainable society for a professional career within research or outside academia. Issues of sustainability are inherently complex and constantly changing. It is therefore crucial to address these issues from an interdisciplinary perspective. Core courses are designed to broaden the students’ perspective on questions and challenges related to sustainable development, and at the same time provide opportunities to deepen knowledge in relevant fields. Students will learn analytical skills that will allow them to interpret, design, communicate and implement sustainability and environmental issues.

Applicants for this program are required to have:
Bachelor's degree equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen within natural sciences, social sciences, health sciences, humanities or engineering or equivalent, that relates to environmental, social or economic aspects of sustainable development.
English corresponding to the level of English in Swedish upper secondary education (English 6/B).
Selection will be based on:
- Academic merits and Letter of Intent
Each applicant should therefore enclose a Letter of Intent written in English, explaining why they want to study this program, and a summary of their bachelor’s essay or project. If applicants hold a degree that does not include a bachelor’s essay or project, their Letter of Intent should describe previous studies and any academic activities that are related to the master’s program or the programs applied for.
