Master's Degree in Geoinformatics Engineering
The first of its kind in Italy, this Master's Degree in Geoinformatics Engineering from Politecnico di Milano is designed to educate high-level experts in technologies for measuring, georeferencing, analyzing, visualizing, and publishing spatial and time-varying information - with a particular attention to environmental data. The program includes a range of computer science courses, and modules dealing with the use of geodatabases for environmental issues.
The main application fields of Geoinformatics Engineering include urban and agricultural land planning, infrastructure design, transport and traffic monitoring and management, environmental modeling, and earth sciences. All these fields attain to the general context of the sustainable management of environment and land. Geoinformatics Engineers are required to develop geodata projects that support the new paradigms of Participative Digital Earth, Smart City and Smart Society, and decisions at local, national, and global level.
The program is taught in English.
Students with a Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Environmental Engineering are eligible for application. Students with a different background, for example other Engineering programs, Geography, Land planning, Natural Sciences, and Physics, will be taken into consideration individually.
