Description of MS Hospitality-Tourism Management
MS Hospitality-Tourism Management - Rochester Institute of Technology
The MS Hospitality-Tourism Management program is designed to give students the skills required in order to oversee finance, human resources, and information management, as well as supervise food service operations and perform event planning. Preparing its students to step into numerous mid-level service management and training director positions, the MS Hospitality-Tourism Management focuses on service, innovation and leadership functions.
The master in science degree investigates service strategy delivery and human resource capital development and consists of a combination of required core courses in service innovation, a concentration, and elective courses chosen by the student to meet career interests and objectives. MS Hospitality-Tourism Management students are able to choose one of three options to complete the program:
- A capstone project
- A research thesis
- A comprehensive exam
Most courses offered in the hospitality and tourism management program are available online and the core courses offers a multifunctional approach that provides a new avenue to examine service organizations and explore such issues as teamwork, learning organizations, organizational change, performance metrics, and customer relationship management.
The MS Hospitality-Tourism Management program facilitate the paradigm shift from manufacturing to service and move the focus from traditional organizational structures to an organization where employees must provide several functions, sometimes simultaneously. This multifunctional approach provides a new avenue to examine service organizations and explore such issues as teamwork, learning organizations, organizational change, performance metrics, and customer relationship management.
Upon completion of the MS Hospitality-Tourism Management program, graduates can look forward to working as Convention Service Managers, Cash Operations Managers, Hotel General Managers and Director of Food Services.
