Masters in Agroecology
The Masters in Agroecology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Sweden is an education course which delves into the economic, social, and environmental opportunities for small scale, sustainable agricultural production.
SLU's 2-year Masters in Agroecology is based on learning through experience, and teaches using real-life case material to convey the economic, social, and ecological importance of farming and food production. Students are guided through a learning process about the open system of agriculture dependent on people, local resources, and surroundings.
The Masters in Agroecology serves as a head start for students who plan to work with research or development of agriculture in support of small-scale farmers. The relationship between human society and biological resources is emphasized throughout this education course. Specific subjects studied include:
- farm production integrated with nature conservation/ ecosystem service production
- sociology of farming and agriculture
- agronomy in a systems ecology perspective
Upon completion of the Masters in Agroecology, graduates are well-prepared to launch successful careers in the field of agroecology in a variety of capacities, whether locally or abroad.
Admission requirements for the Masters in Agroecology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Sweden are:
- a Bachelor´s degree (undergraduate cycle) corresponding to a minimum of 180 HEC/ECTS, including 90 HEC/ECTS specialization in one of the following subjects/educational areas:
- Natural sciences
- Cultural geography
- Human ecology
- Leadership and organization
- Political science
- Social anthropology
or the equivalent overseas degree,
- specific admission requirements including English language proficiency demonstrated as: - English B (Swedish secondary school) or equivalent.
Grade requirement: A minimum grade of Pass in the course above.
The tuition fee for the Masters in Agroecology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Sweden is 270000 SEK for the total program.
