Masters in Management of Fish & Wildlife Populations SLUThe Masters in Management of Fish and Wildlife Populations at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Sweden is an education course which provides knowledge of natural resource management, specifically of fish and wildlife populations.

SLU's 2-year Masters in Management of Fish and Wildlife Populations is offered through the Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Environmental Studies, and covers various aspects of the conservation and management of fish and wildlife. This includes relevant international laws and conventions as well as scientific theory and methods. The first year of this education course consists of four modules:

  • Applied Population Ecology
  • Fish and Wildlife Management
  • Fish and Wildlife Census Techniques
  • Human Dimensions of Fish and Wildlife Management

The second year of the Masters in Management of Fish and Wildlife Populations allows students to deepen their knowledge in the field, and complete a masters thesis. The education curriculum is made up of literature studies, exercises, lectures, project works, and field excursions.

Upon completion of the Masters in Management of Fish and Wildlife Populations, graduates are well-prepared to launch successful careers which required a knowledge of management and conservation of fish and wildlife populations. This includes hunters or fishermen associations; local, regional, and national government agencies for natural resource management; or environmental non-governmental organizations.

Admission requirements

Admission requirements for the Masters in Management of Fish and Wildlife Populations at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Sweden are:

  • BSc in Biology, Forest Science or another area of Natural Resource Management (180 cr)including
    •90 cr in Biology or Forest Science or Natural Resource Management including 15 cr Ecology or equivalient knowledge and
  • specific admission requirements including English language proficiency demostrated as: English B (Swedish secondary school) or equivalient. Grade requirement: a minimum of Pass in the course above.
