Program Description
The Building Design and Technololgy Diploma programme is a challenging and rewarding course, providing students with substantial, wide-ranging skills and knowledge related to the building design and architectural drafting industry.
The first year of the course qualifies students for the Certificate IV in Residential Drafting. Students gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills to produce documentation suitable for the construction of residential housing. Subject areas include:
- housing design,
- construction technology,
- materials,
- 2D computer aided drafting,
- office administration,
- residential working drawings
- digital presentation.
In the following year participants extend their expertise to encompass commercial building design, site surveys, construction technology related to commercial buildings, 3D computer aided drafting and digital rendering, commercial working drawings and project administration.
Assessment take the form of both practical & theory exercises,undertaken throughout the program. On successful completion of the second year students are eligible for the Diploma of Building Design and Technology.
Admission requirements
Students wishing to study the Building Design and Technololgy Diploma should meet the following requirements:
Completion of the equivalent of Australian Year 12 (12 years of schooling) or mature age with suitable experience.
Students require basic understanding and knowledge of trigonometry and so should have successfully completed an appropriate maths subject at senior school level (or suitable experience).
