TESOL MA - The New School in New York City
The New School Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA TESOL) program is designed to raise the standards of professionals in the field of teaching English to speakers of other languages. TESOL MA is a flexible program. Students have the option of completing the degree entirely online or in combination with the summer intensive program on-site at the Greenwich Village campus, New York.
This innovative online master’s degree in teaching English to speakers of other languages offers two concentrations: teaching and curriculum development. The MA TESOL program trains students to be leaders in this growing and evolving field.
Professional Training in two Specialized Areas: Teaching & Curriculum Development. Core subjects taught in the TESOL Masters course include:
- Language Analysis for Teachers: Phonology, Lexis and Syntax
- Language Analysis for Teachers: Grammar and Discourse
- Principles of Language Learning and Teaching
- Language in Society
- English in the World: Political, Economic and Ethical Considerations
After graduating, you can go on to teach in universities, public and private schools, and businesses or work with NGOs, governments, and large international corporations.
Admission to the MA TESOL program is based on a number of factors. students must submit the following items:
- Statement of purpose
- Academic transcripts
- Résumé/work history
- Letters of recommendation
- Personal interview
Applications are reviewed by an admission committee consisting of admission counselors, the director of the MA program, and members of the faculty.
Tuition & fees
The program is 30 credits with tuition fees of $1,440 per credit.
