Bachelor of Business Administration
The Bachelor of Business Administration degree is a 4-year program. Thompson Rivers University is a member of AACSB International the premier accreditation body for business degrees in North America and adheres closely to their academic standards.
Upon meeting the Admission Requirements, students receive a general education in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences in Years 1 & 2 as well as a strong grounding in accounting, economics, computing, statistics, and organization behaviour. This serves as the foundation for advanced study in business in Years 3 & 4.
In Years 3 and 4, students take a Core of eight courses in key management areas. In addition to the Core, students must acquire a specialization in a functional area of business, including Accounting , New Venture Creation, Finance, Human Resources, International Business, Marketing and Information Technology. Students interested in Economics can also select that discipline, or those who want more breadth in their business studies can choose the General BBA.
Masters of Business Administration
The TRU MBA is an excellent choice for a graduate business education. We offer students a highly applied curriculum with an emphasis on the global business environment. The MBA facilities at the school are some of the best and the scenic surroundings in B.C.'s interior will make your stay in Kamloops an enjoyable learning experience.
The TRU MBA is also an ideal program for International students; we pride ourselves on the international mix in our MBA cohort. The diversity of backgrounds in our student cohort, our faculty and British Columbia business community provide a lively interactive learning environment - an environment that facilitates the development of professional relationships that go well beyond the time spent in the classroom.
Double Degree - Bachelor of Computing Science (BCS) & Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
Double degrees in both computing and business will provide graduates with a strong platform from which to launch a successful career in the Information Age. Whether it is working as a web applications manager at a major marketing company, an information systems consultant at a major accounting firm, or the CEO of a new software start up, BCS/BBA students will possess the combined management skills and computing “know how” needed to be successful in an increasingly high-tech business environment.
To earn double degrees, students must meet the requirements of both programs. You might think this would take eight years of study (four years for each degree), but this is not true. Many core and elective courses can be “double counted,” which greatly reduces the time to completion. Through careful course selection, it is possible to complete two degrees in just five years.
The Post-Baccalaureate Diplomas offered by the School of Business and Economics focus on specialized subjects within the business field including accounting, marketing, finance, human resource management, new venture creation and international business. Through concentrating on a specialization, the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma program offers students a valuable purposeful education leading to a deep understanding of the particular subject under study.
