Master's Degree in Design Innovation for the Tourist Industry

The Master in Design Innovation for the Tourist Industry program takes a multi-disciplinary education approach to research design and apply it to the field of tourism. During this program students will learn how to implement strategies and activities in the tourism industry based on design and design working methods. 

Along with the University of La Laguna (ULL), the University of Barcelona (UB), the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU) take part in this inter-university master’s degree.

Admission requirements

Admission will be direct for students coming from a bachelor’s degree in design, fine arts and industrial design engineering and product development from the European Area of Higher Education. Students from other degree courses, such as architecture, social sciences and economics and the social science and humanities disciplines in general, may gain access once their application has been assessed by an academic committee that will use the student’s academic curriculum to determine which foundation subjects the student must study in the Master in Design.

To gain access to the master program, students will have to accredit a level of B1 in English pursuant to the common frame of reference for languages.

Continuing studies

This is a master’s degree that leads to professional or research specialization with a clearly multi-disciplinary profile. It fosters the creation of a new kind of professional profile, specializing in managing design in the tourist industry with a view to developing innovative products and services.

Graduates of this program, as both designers and consultants, will be able to draw on their design know-how and apply it using their capacity for critical analysis and creative design-thinking to resolve specific problems with experimentation and creative synthesis. Their mission will be to analyse the industry, identify its problems and offer solutions and suggest possible scenarios for strategic improvement. The program creates a research profile that the tourist industry understands to be necessary insofar as it can offer benefits.
