Get ahead - Bachelor in Communication Sciences

The Bachelor in Communication Sciences provide students with a thorough basic grounding in the field of communication. The programme has a rich approach, in both the disciplines that are taught and the methodologies employed and the areas of communication investigated.

Giving special attention to the fundamental role that Information and Communication Technology plays, the Bachelor in Communication Sciences is studied with the tools of both the human sciences and the social sciences.

The Bachelor in Communication Sciences focuses on quantitative and qualitative methodologies and an important part of the programme is devoted to the methodology of communication research.

Bachelor in Communication Sciences students have the opportunity to personalize their study programme by choosing one of following three specialist areas:

  • Communication and Media
  • Business Communication
  • Public Communication

Admission requirements

Admission requirements for Bachelor programmes at Università della Svizzera italiana are for the following sections:

Swiss school-leaving certificates received in Switzerland and abroad

  • Federal or cantonal matriculation recognized by the Swiss Federal Matriculation Committee.
  • Maturità commercial cantonale;
  • Final diploma of a professional university institute or diploma of a higher technical school recognised by the competent federal authorities
  • School-leaving certificates given by Swiss schools abroad are accepted

Foreign school-leaving certificates

Applicants with a foreign secondary school (pre-university) diploma (and/or a foreign university diploma considered equivalent to it) are admitted. As a rule, reference is made to the guidelines of the University Admissions Commission of the Swiss University Rectors' Conference.Where equivalence is not clearly definable, candidates may given an interview or asked to take further examinations, and supplementary pre-university courses may be prescribed.

Admission "by portfolio"

Candidates over 25 years old lacking the above qualifications may be admitted if the Academy judges they have special training and experience revealing an aptitude for design work certified with the application for admission.
