Bachelor of Applied Science in Forensic Studies University of CanberraThe Bachelor of Applied Science in Forensic Studies at the University of Canberra in Australia is an education programme which teaches students how to apply scientific principles to the investigation of criminal acts: forensic science.

UC's 6-semester Bachelor of Applied Science in Forensic Studies teaches students how to present objective evidence and opinions that assist the court with their deliberation process over a criminal case. Forensic scientists are one of the first to arrive at disaster scenes, and are often involved in resolving human tragedies.

This Bachelor of Applied Science in Forensic Studies emphasises the laboratory-based fields of forensic chemistry and forensic biology, as well as the collection and examination of trace evidence, toxicology, and the interpretation and reporting of analytical results. Education courses included within this programme are:

  • Forensic Statistics
  • Environmental Forensic Science
  • Data Analysis in Science
  • Forensic Evidence and the Law

Upon completion of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Forensic Studies, graduates are well-prepared to launch successful careers in the field of forensic science, working as, for instance, food and drug analysts, chemists, biochemists, medical technologists, or forensic scientists.
