Program description

MA Liberal Arts

The innovative undergraduate Master of Arts (MA) Honours degree represents the finest Scottish liberal arts tradition of extensive inquiry over a wide range of subjects and disciplines, challenging you to find creative solutions to problems through active learning. The four year degree offers a range of subjects in the Humanities, Liberal Arts, and Social Sciences, which you can study for a single honours degree specialising in one subject, a joint honours degree specialising in two subjects, or a general liberal arts honours degree allowing you to pursue a broad-based curriculum without the requirement to specialise.

Admission requirements

The minimum requirement for the majority of our taught postgraduate programmes is an undergraduate Honours degree.

However for many of our Masters programmes you need to have at least an Upper Second Class (2:1) Honours degree, and some may specify the relevant subject they are looking for.

You can find the specific entry requirements for your chosen Masters programme on the course page. This includes details of any specific degree subjects or classification.

All courses at the University of Dundee are taught in English. If your first language is not English you must typically have an IELTS score of at least 6.5 overall (or equivalent) with a 6.0 in Writing and Speaking and a minimum of 5.5 in the other two components in order to be successful in your academic studies.

Additionally, if you require a visa to study in the UK, then you must also meet the level of English required by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). The IELTS standard of English language required for each Masters course is shown on the individual course page.
