Masters in Arts, Culture & MediaArts, Culture and Media Education

The Masters in Arts, Culture and Media at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands is an education program which focuses on researching how art functions in society in relation to specific cultural, geographical and deomgraphical characteristics. It is based on an extensive and in-depth knowledge of the most up-to-date international scholarly research in the field of the Arts, Culture, and Media.

The thorough training within Groningen's multi-disciplinary, 1-year Masters in Arts, Culture and Media at the University of Groningen is a critical analysis of artistic expression in society. Students acquire the ability to develop proposals to evaluate artistic initiatives, such as films, biennial events, or theatre production, and to redefine arts organization and implementation of new strategies. Students enrolled in this education course also learn how to make a detailed, well-focused analysis of a city, province, or region's artistic landscape, and how to write a scientific report for policy advice.

Upon completion of the Masters in Arts, Culture and Media, graduates have a thorough understanding of the relationship between arts, culture and media and other economic, social, and political value regimes in society. Students are well-prepared to work as policymakers; culture consultants; cultural critics, specifically within institutional and societal contexts of art production, art distribution, and art presentation; and managers within the professional field of arts.
