Summer School in Osteoarchaeology & Paleopathology
Through this summer course from University of Pisa, students will develop an understanding of anthropological and paleothalogical laboratory methods. The course is a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in bioarchaeological investigation by working side-by-side with leading researchers.
Over three weeks, students will also develop a basic understanding of skeletal anatomy, physical anthropology and paleopathology required for osteological analyses.
The skeletal materials under examination includes samples from Tuscan excavations dating back to the medieval ages. The activities will be completed under the supervision of experienced staff of the Division of Paleopathology, directed by Professor Gino Fornaciari.
Students will be fully trained for all activities they experience. The only prerequisite is knowledge of the English language.
