Study a Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in Amsterdam
Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is the only university in the Netherlands to offer a dedicated Master of Science program that focuses on clinical experimental research in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Through innovative research, you will contribute to national and international programs to improve the diagnosis and management of people with musculoskeletal conditions, and understand the working mechanisms of interventions. The multidisciplinary masters program is an excellent stepping-stone to commence a successful research career or to advance your clinical career.
The multidisciplinary program builds upon the latest developments in Physiotherapy, Orthopaedics, Human Movement Sciences and Health Sciences research. The program consists of three major components. The first component focusses on research methodology and translational research.
You will become familiar with the different types of research designs that are commonly used in Health research. In a second component, you will gain insight in trending topics in musculoskeletal research, and gain knowledge and skills in state-of-the-art data collection and analysis methods, such as 3D motion analysis, EMG, medical imaging, histology, etc.
The third component consists of an individual research project on a topic of your preference under the supervision of our nationally and internationally renowned researchers. Various tuition formats are used, such as lectures, practicals, seminars, individual and group assignments, directed self-guided learning, debates, and of course a substantial research project.
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited research university including at least three full years of academic study amounting a minimum of 180 ECTS or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Anatomy Physiology and Psychology, with sufficient research skills and knowledge of Mathematics and Physics.
- Motivation, background and personality (motivation letter, CV and personal reference).
- Proof of sufficient proficiency in English.
The cost of this program for students of EU/EEA countries is €2,060.
