Program description

counseling MA program

This MA in Counseling provides a comprehensive understanding of different counseling approaches plus practical experience in helping clients assess emotional difficulties, develop insights and make lifestyle changes. The counseling program cultivates deeper self-awareness and interpersonal communication skills—essential to anyone planning to help others.

Graduates of the counseling masters will work in private practices and in diverse fields, including child, adult, couples, substance abuse and career counseling. They may apply their skills in human resources, healthcare, education, development and humanitarian settings.

In-depth and Personalized Learning

Students experience personal attention, in-depth instruction and a real-world approach to learning. They integrate theory and practice into professional counseling skills and experience an extensive practicum and internship (at home or abroad).

Networking Opportunities

Counseling students are provided multiple possibilities to generate qualitative professional relationships during the program. They develop a useful network with professors and practicing therapists as they prepare to enter the international counseling community.

Webster alumni also remain in contact with the program, thereby enlarging the network. Students also have the opportunities to meet highly respected, helping professionals invited to share their knowledge in class. In the addition, the Counseling department offers a series of public lectures, workshops and conferences. Participants may expand their perspective through international travel and study within Webster University’s network of campuses.
